about myself
My name is Jenn, and I reside in a small little town in northen Vermont where I'm currently attending college. By the time I graduate in May, 2011, I will have a BS in Digital Media, an AS in Grahic Design and an AS in Computer Science. Not bad for what will be 8 years of school (oy, vey!)
I'm very shy when first getting to know someone; I hate that awkward stage during the first few encounters with a person... you're not really sure what to say, because you don't know each other that well. Beyond that though, I like to think I'm a lot of fun- I'm not a "party animal", even around those I am comfortable with. In fact, I'm just as happy sitting in the corner watching everyone else, whilst occasionally putting in my two cents. But I am however a bit more animated otside of those awkward first stages- I'm more likely to speak my mind as I know I won't offend anybody.
I'm also very open-minded when it comes to trying new things. My theory? Don't knock it until you try it: how can you judge something you've never experienced before? No, I'm not talking about drugs.. just life in general. However I am reserved when it comes to a few things; ie, I won't go sky diving ever, due to an insane fear of heights; I won't jump into a pit with snakes, spiders, scorpions or anything creepy crawly. I guess Fear Factor really wouldn't be the show for me! haha
Lastly, I happen to live by myself- my cat is the only other inhabitent in this apartment. I love cats.. I simply can't say no to them! (Dogs on the other hand.. I'm not so fond of.) I find I just can't say no to a cute furry little kitten. Hence why one of my favorite websites is I Can Has a Cheezburger?. My assumption of the future?: I'll be the 80 year-old recluse in the abandoned house at the end of the street, housing 8 million cats :p

travel
I also love to travel.. I've been to Orlando (3 times); San Francisco (once); all over New England since I live here; and to Europe (in Italy: Florence, Venice, Verona, Barcelona, Bologna; Monaco; in France: Paris & Nice). I will be returning to Europe in April, 2009 for my final overseas trip of my college years.. I'll be visiting Italy again, though this time we'll be visiting different cities: Rome & Vatican City and Pompeii. Instead of visiting France, we'll be traveling to Greece this time. I'm very much looking forward to this trip as I've wanted to visit Greece my entire life. When I was younger, my parents were good friends with several people who originated from Greece and from there the obsession has stuck. In the past few years I've become essentially obsessed with everything about the ancient Greek and Roman lifestyle. I really just cannot wait to go- this will be a dream come true :)

tv & books
I also happen to be quite the nerd.. my favorite channels include History, History Internation, Discovery and the Science channel. I'm never afraid to learn something new :) I've also become quite the Star Trek fan in the past couple months (I can thank my philosophy prof for that one).. though I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm a "Trekkie". I don't know how to speak Klingon, I don't go to conventions.. I ust simply like the show. Currently I'm working my way through all 7 seasons of The Next Generation (TNG). It's what I was introduced to, so I decided to continue watching it. After finishing the series (I'm currently just starting season 5), I'll move onto all the shows & movies which came after; Voyager, Nemesis, etc. Upon finishing those, I'd like to go back and start with the original series (TOS).
Aside from Star Trek, I love adult cartoons.. South Park, Family Guy, American Dad, The Simpsons.. anything like that. As much as I may be a nerd, I'm not a total square- I do enjoy a good laugh. I'm also a huge fan of kiddie cartoons such as Spongebob and the Fairly OddParents. I love how the creators can put in these little innuendos that parents will "get", but children just glide right over.
As well, I am also a huge Harry Potter fan.. and I mean die hard. At first I wasn't so much into the series, in fact, I was rather judgemental. When I was younger.. around 18.. I had this notion that they were about nothing but wizardry and magic. My mom explaine dto me that it wasn't about just that; rather, it was the story of a boy growing up who felt like he just didn't fit in, and along with it, all the trials and tribulations one faces growing up. It sounded a bit sappy to me, but I decided to give the books a go anyway. I've been hooked ever since. In fact, when book 6 (Half Blood Prince) came out, I was working at McDonald's, where I was always stuck in the back drive-thru. I got so great at my job, I could text on my phone, read my book and take orders all at the same time :p There was just no putting these books down. I had #6 read in 2-3 days; book 7 took me longer however. Taking some harder classes, I didn't have as much time to read, so it probably took me a good month with "here and there" reading.

music & him
Along with being an avid Potter/Trek fan, I'm a fan of music- especially metal, and especially 80's metal. I just don't think it gets any better than Def Leppard.. I've been a fan since I was about 10, and have always wanted to see them live. Finally, for my 22nd birthday, I had that very opportunity. I loved it! Their stage show is simply incredible! At the same show performing was Journey, who I never was a huge fan of.. I knew a few songs here and there, but for the most part I wouldn't go so far as to say I was a fan. After this show however, I did become a fan- just like Def Leppard, their stage show in incredible :) I'd love to be able to see them again.
Then, comes HIM.. anybody who knows me knows I am completely, totally and utterly obsessed with the Finnish rock band, HIM. I was first introduced to their existance back in the summer/autumn of 2003. At the time I was an avid Good Charlotte fan (the old GC- not the "new" poser sell-out GC), and I would see HIM graphics (avatars, signatures) all over the GC boards I posted at. My first reaction to them was.. "Great; another "American made" band- just what we need; somebody who can't write their own music, write their own songs or do anything without an overlord." I was highly critical, until one day, late in the winter (2003), I was sitting at the computer with MTV on in the background when I heard the most beautiful music.. Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch the entire commercial; I stood up just in time to hear "HIM's new album, Razorblade Romance, in stores now!" I simply couldn't believe what I was hearing. That band I had been so critical of- I actually liked what I heard! So I went back online to see if there was a place where I could hear some more. It could have been just coincidence, after all- there are many bands I listen to, but I only like 1 or 2 songs. Anyhow, I found just the place- an official website that had video clips and music clips. From that moment on, I was hooked- nay- obsessed! :p
A few months after being introduced to their music, I had the opportunity to see them in concert- it was early spring, 2004, and they were doing their first ever US tour. I immediately got tickets and went down to Boston to see them. I can't even begin to explain how great the show was. It was standing room only, and I was in the and I was probably 3 bodies back from the stage. I couldn't believe I was so close! I could have touched Valo or Mige if I wanted to! :p The next day, the group was singing autographs at a local record store. Of course, I could not pass up this opportunity, so before catching the bus home, I stopped in, got an autograph and photo taken with them :)
